Lessons learned in August 2007

In respond to Sherry Athrentzen Article:

Mankind created of Two genders, Male and female. what is the point of creating the word feminism?!!

Man and women are the same. atleast same brain. and both participate and creat our daily life basis, in architecture, medicine, motherhood and fatherhood.

if we start establishing words like feminism then there would be someone establish the word Malenism! and our world would split to Two parts almost half and half in the big scale and the smallest scale inside the family itself ratherthan working and cooperating together to creat better life for all, that is rewarding to every one on the planet.

Lessons learned from Dr Alex Lecture,

The history of copley square had a strong Impact on my design concept, appreciating the life story of the place. is a major factor in my NewBorn Apple store in the heritage site of Copley!!

When it comes to the Historic Churce across the street the building decent respectfully for the much older neighbor, and when it comes to face the copley place with its recent (competion Landscape scheme) It stands up! attracting visitors "Potential apple customers" from the the major axis in the south part of the city.

Thanks for the Lecture Dr, Alex!

The Apple store visit was of much a discovery trip. learning that stores and commercial buildings are not just about purchasing, but could be a gathering place of wonder, playing, expressing rewarding the visitor (potential customer) an experience that would develop a relation between him and the store brand name. this relation is invaluable

I agree Amr.
The history lecture from Alex Krieger was fascinating. To think he lectures at Harvard! It was a great honor to listen to such an intelligent presentation. I have learned so much from Boston as well this week.

The reason that the word "feminism" exists is because the word "masculism" doesn't... and that guys who make rules (and benefit from them) don't understand that their experiences aren't exactly the same as those who are different from them. What feminism aims to do, in my understanding, is to make women's concerns and experiences visible, so that men can't plead ignorance. It's not necessarily an opposition; more nearly a tool for better collaboration.

Herb brought up some good points. My husband always calls me a feminist. He does this when I point out that there are fewer women than men in architecture. He does this when I point out that the only womens restroom was on the third floor and there were mens restrooms on every floor, any time I point out that my experience is different than his. Some people take it over the top and demand more. It should be used as a tool for better collaboration. All I want is an equal opportunity to participate in the same experiences as any other human being, male or female.
